Did you know that you can ....

- train cockroaches to salivate in response to an odour stimulus?

- train honeybees to give a stinging response by associating an odour with an electric shock?!

Sadly, the first of these studies was in a place that has been seriously disrupted recently.

Don't talk to me about cockroaches.
Graham, that's Greene rather than White, wrote quite a bit about these unsavoury characters.
Anyone who has ever lived in a developing country has waged a war against the cockroach.

Gavin, that's shocking - torturing poor bees to get a stinging response.I can get one of those without reverting to torture.

Hi Grizzly,

I take it you don't breed for docility then!

Hi Jimbo just read your thread.Yes I do breed for docility but the best behaved bees have a little lapse from time to time.I recon I probably collect no more than 2 or 3 stings a year and then only after trapping a poor unfortunate under my fingers by being careless.
