BBC Radio Scotland's Out of Doors programme yesterday and again on the radio now had a piece on the progress of the bees at Kellie Castle. It was a sad tale of Susie Hanson's mistake made by most beginners I've met (including myself in year 2) - missing an inspection or missing queen cells when you do.
The colony is now weakened and has a lot of chalkbrood, plus a virgin queen which is going to come into lay a bit late. We've all done that though, haven't we?!
