I know I should wait a month to tell you this but Ill forget.
All queens born this year will do so with a yellow dot on their thorax.
Amazing how she is born every year with a different colour in her back . How do they do that?
Found this. Need more computor skills to create this.

Personally I ignore it. I used to work a lot of OSR and finding a yellow queen was a serious pain so I used colours I found easy to see, and in my case that was and is, white, red, green and blue. And frankly in reality more than enough.

I'm red/green colour blind ... I just alternate white and blue and have reasonable notes.

I just use white and mark the Q year of birth on the record card.

... and I like all five colours. I also use it to make marks (crosses for queen cells or whatever) on the top bars with that year's colour. That gives me a quick idea how old the frame is.

You don't have to consult that website to see a year's colour, GG. A mnemonic I use is, "When You're Ready, Get Bees" with 'When' is white for years 1 and 6, 'You're' is yellow for years 2 and 7, and so on.

Blue isn't a good colour and my kids can't see red at all. White is probably the best for me. Maybe I should try dayglow orange.
But what do you do in Oz or NZ when the year changes in the middle of the season. Do you mark for the time of emergence or the time of mating?
