Hi all,
I’m in need of some fresh pollen (2014 would be OK) preferably of local stock rather than abroad and wondered if anyone knew a good supplier or indeed had some themselves.
The pollen can’t be in dried, granule form like they sell in the health stores but rather powder form as close to resembling how the bees collect it as possible.
Wouldn't need much, 250g(ish)
Any ideas?

What do you need it for?
If it is to feed back to bees then it's not a good idea as it could spread disease
A number of SBA members took part in the Bee pollen project last year and may have excess pollen left over from that study

Not small hive beetle I hope !
Try the coordinator of the CSI Pollen project, Magnus Peterson. If he doesn't have spare pollen he may know someone that does. Although he's seldom on here a PM to Magnus Peterson should reach him.
Could you not gently humidify the dried pollen in health food shops to soften it? Any collected pollen is likely to be still in the pellet form bees bring back. It is either dried or frozen, but the moist version goes off very quickly.
You've just asked the very same question in another thread so I'm about to remove it. One will do.

Ok I might be able to help
I have bee pollen pellets stored in the freezer that were excess to the sample sent to the CSI project
The pellets were collected over last summer and a variety of pollens
Not certain I have 250 grams but you are welcome to what I have
Pm me to arrange a pickup if you want the pollen

Ha no Gavin not SHB.
Thanks for the information. I did try rehydrating but it didn't work very well, might try again though. Apologies for the double post.
Thanks Jimbo I'll send you a PM.
