Fake Manuka Honey

I like to keep an eye on what’s happening in the beekeeping scene down under. Here’s some links to the news about the fake manuka honey coming from New Zealand. Alex the N Z beekeeper who gave us a queen rearing demo this summer gets his main honey crop from the manuka trees. He was well aware of the fake honey and told me about it. He also said that before the Unique Manuka Factor was discovered the N Z beekeepers couldn’t even give the stuff away. Personally I hate it:( and think it tastes like a sweetened antiseptic potion. I’ll make no claims about my honey but if anyone wants to pay me £35 for a jar you’re more than welcome.
