Solar lighting for sheds

Well in fact it's for my bee house. We don't have a big budget but will need some lighting during the winter. Solar is the only option so does anyone have any experience? I will not need it all that often in winter but it shouldn't be too dim. This is a newer type that does not need a great big storage battery, the storage batteries are in the light fitting. Any comments welcome

We have it at the association apiary. In my humble opinion it is poor. We have a couple of torches so that we can actually find equipment (no windows).

How about bottled light (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-23536914) ... ? Probably not good enough to see eggs, but then you won't need to in winter. Might be sufficient to save you from falling over a discarded super though.

Hmm hmm - that guy is South America - don't think we have enough sunshine here in winter toget them started. And I would not dare even suggesting to the builder he makes holes in the roof. I did touch on a velux and got very short shrift👊💬

Tilly lamp gives lots of light cheaply
Has to be the paraffin one for indoors
The petrol ones are outdoor only poisonous fumes

Don't want to pump one up

It gives enough light to read by, and to cook by. Not a huge area, probably about 3-4ft in diameter. I'm told that once wound up it lasts for several hours.

It wasn't expensive, came from the local market to be taken by one of the offspring on a camping/walking trip. They've kept it rather than giving it back, so it must be okay.
